Why Kids Should Read, as Told by My Fourth Grade Self
Kids Should Read More
Imagine still being stuck in high school at age 25. Your brain is reduced to a pulp by the television. Why has this happened? Did you not benefit from educational, healthier and more fun than T.V., better life giving reading? If kids would read more, they could have a greater quality of life.
One reason to read more is that it is very educational. I know you’ve heard it before, but it will really help you pass grades and not end up like the terrible scenario above. It will help you really understand your teachers are saying. Reading will widen your vocabulary as well. Books are the basis of our education.
Another reason to choose reading is that it is much better than watching television.
Unlike books, T.V. will melt your brain instead of enriching it like books do. Books are also less expensive, portable, and have a wide variety of topics. T.V. hurts your eyes, but books just let you read for hours without headaches and eye pain. Another great thing about reading is that it gives a longer more detailed story.
There are many more reasons to read, but here is my final reason to write about. Reading will give you a better quality of life. If you read, you will have the knowledge to get a better job. The more you read the more possibilities you will have. The world will be smarter and more advanced if there are more literate people.
As you can see, reading is very good to do. In fact, you are becoming more educated by reading this! Also, at this moment, your brain is not being melted by television. By spreading the word about this, you are making the world better. Reading made you a superhero! Do you see why you should read?

From Picket Fences to Pumpkin Lattes
Do you remember the days when the quintessential American lifestyle was having a loving family, a solid job, a doting wife, and a nice house with a white picket fence? It used to be many a person's dream. Now, that vision has become out dated. The new scenario involves a new set of ideals for a new time.
Picture this: riding a bike to a coffee shop with a messenger bag swinging at your side. Having a fancy but healthy artisan drink at your side while you write in a blog with spiritual ramblings. You act like you are "just another person in this thing called life". There is even a slight hippie like quality about it.
Most yuppies of our time have imagined that their life could be like this. However, this is a dream that cannot come true for many. We have money to make. Technology to depend on. We get swept up in hectic lives. But we still long for carefree cafe livin'.

Our Darkest Day, and Darkest Decade
Everyone knows what I mean. The fateful day when our lives of ease collapsed around us. We all knew that it would change us forever. But not in the way that we imagine. We are different people now. We are more connected to the country and the world. We are a bigger part of the big picture, we are more a part of the world.
But with all this involvement, we are growing apart as well. We have more seperate views on common issues. We have more and more difficulty coming together on issues. It's not about togetherness anymore, doing what the people need. It's about what they need to please a few people.
Even though we don't want to have another great tragedy, such as what occurred on
September 11, 2001, it did do one great thing for the country. It brought us together. We both had the same thoughts, and just wanted to help. It wasn't about self enhancement, it was about helping those in need. It was about being a nation again.

Oh, It happens. Trust me.
Dear possible readers,
Have you ever found yourself to be incapable of doing anything productive for an extended period of time? Have you ever found yourself knowingly procrastinating? Have you ever tried to actually become responsible and do actual things and unglue your face to the computer but failed miserably because you couldn't stay away from the temptation of Gmail, Facebook, and Youtube?
You know you have, at least once in your life. And you're not alone. For you see, the rest of the world and I have to. We all have our own consequences, motivations (and lack of motivations), and temptations that keep us from becoming responsible human beings. We all have our stories of failure that far out number sucess.
But we keep trying, no matter how much we know that we will end up in a self dug pit of shame. Some people might deny it. But I know that this, contrary to common belief, is normal.
For example:

Oooh, I am going to do something useful!
-
Maybe I'll eat breakfast today!
-
That went okay! Maybe I'll comb my hair. I think I am responsible enough to not have dreads.
-
This is going great! Maybe I can help other people, say pick up one piece of my junk.
-
Wow! At this rate, I could clean my room!
-
*looks in room* Say, I think there's a new video on youtube...
-
*Spends six hours looking at pointless videos in the dark*

Who cares about titles anyway?
I haven't posted in a long time. I am tremendously sorry, but what did you expect! I am not terribly busy, so what reason do I have? Well, I will divulge what very little I know about my own predicament. My blog is no longer a place where I can post anything I want. It is a place where my musings can be read by anyone.
I can't ever make this a diary, for the risk of sounding like a conceited tweeny-bopper. wWhen I make public friendly posts, they are the most utterly boring written atrocities that I have ever read. So you see my dilemma. How can I meet in the middle? How will I ever freely express what I think? How can I be true? How can I make my homepage less of an eyesore? These are my questions for the world.
For now, I have no clue what I will post, or even if I will attempt to post at all. At the moment, my wittiness and knowledge will not be accurately channeled into a blog. So goodbye, dear readers, and when my brain and exceptional ideas return, so will I.

Busch Gardens
Omigod!!!!!!! My life is interesting! Who would have thought that to be possible? I just went to Busch Gardens on a band trip! As you may know, I play the (awesome) French Horn. Our band program has a reputation of being very good. Our symphonic band won best overall. However, Concert (my band) won 2nd place for concert band II.
Our trip started with a drive down, with a stop at a mall for lunch. We eventually got to the hotel, hung out, then drove to a high school to play. We played first, the listened to the symphonic band. We had dinner, then went back to the hotel to swim in the enormous indoor pool. We were there for two hours pushing each other in the deep end. Eventually, we stayed up late in our rooms eating pizza and watching the weather channel and TLC.
The next morning, we were ecstatic when we heard that we were going to the park, which had been doubtful due to the threat of immense storms. I was there all day, doing my dare devil thing. I rode almost all the rides in the park. My favorite was the Griffon, which everyone was too chicken to go on. I also liked Escape to PompeiiIn, which was a water ride with fire. The day was intense, man.

One more spiral of death
No. Oh no. Not again. This can't be happening. Buzz has failed me once again! Oh well. Some things just happen. Maybe it crashed due to the 75 unread posts I had. That's a lot. Who likes DC United? That's my soccer team for mah hometown, DC. Sort of. I attended a game recently (as in last night) and it turned out ok, I guess. It was 0-0. Not very exciting. I did find dippin dots, though. I love me some Ice cream of the future!!!

A Thousand Miles is Pretty Far...
But we've got planes and trains and cars. However, sometimes it is necessary to walk. Or run. For me, it was a class requirement to run 1 mile. Most people dread the mile. But not me! No, I am the crazy idiot who LOVES to run. Because of that, I was able to get an 8:01 time and feel awesome after it. I hope I made the top ten, but if not, I at least made presidential, which represents the 85th percentile. (Translation: 15% of the U.S. population for that age can achieve those scores.) I might have gotten presidential in all, if not most, categories. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was 1 minute and 15 seconds better than last time. What an improvement. Some people call me an idiot, but i just love running!

Something Clever That I Can't Think Of
Today is my happy day: no school tomorrow, fun afternoon, and it's MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! i am just so happy, except for the fact that mt bff isn't here, she's at a funeral. Well, musing number one: bluberry cheesecake custard is beast. I must say that rings true throughout my taste buds. I am also here for an announcement: I hope that you will help spread relief to the poor citizens of Japan. they are in great danger. Many are starved, parched, freezing, and without electricity. We, in a usually safe country, consider little things like a breakup or glitch in scheduling a major disaster. Well, in Japan, people are dying and dead. I strongly encourage some sort of aid to be provided from everybody who can. For someone sad about someone not being here with you, remember that in Japan, someone has had everyone they know gone forever.

Happiness, Mostly
What are my latest musings? That is a thing the world may never know. I am extremely happy right now, and I am considering letting you know why. Thursday is my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!! I will not post my age on the 'net, but I am ecstatic!!!!!!!!!!!!! This you can tell from my overuse of exclamation points. I am also exited because on Friday( friday, gotta get down on friday! :) ), i will view an amazing production that is Cirque de Solei. I can't wait! What an exiting week, at least compared to last week's disappointments. I am also going to be involved in a school student focus group where I will discuss the school's (many) problems. Finally, a voice in the complex and excluding school system!

Witness
OH. MY. GOD.
I just witnessed a horrific car accident.
I was walking home from school, and a car completely forgot about the stop sign at a busy, traffic-lightless
intersection. It hit the end of a car, making it swerve to the side of the street. That car hit a parked car, and was completely smashed. The driver of the wrecked car seemed to be having heart trouble, so an ambulance and a police car came, and later a firetruck. We stayed as witnesses, and the officer questioned us. It was REALLY horrifying to watch. I am still in a little bit of shock.

Books and feelings
Ok, so have you ever read a book and felt an immense connection to it? When you understand their feelings, though you might not have been through it before? I have, and know book has ever made me feel that way more than Hunger Games did. While I was reading about the desperation and the ruthless tyranny, a wave of emotions came over me. Compassion, anger, symapathy, and disgust were some of the things I felt. And I can't help but think that these things are going on all over the world. Think of the middle east. The population is in a state of desperation, while trying to fight cruel dictators. Imagine those people. They are probably the most brave people on earth.

Pi!!!!!
Today is national (or international?) Pi Day! Pi (for those sad souls who have not yet explored the woners of math) is the ratio of a circle's circumference to diameter. It goes on forever, and computers have tried to calculate it as far as possible, going into the trillions of digits. People spend time memorizing thousands of digits of pi. I have memorized 35 digits of pi, which seems like a tribute to my nerdiness, but is not very much in the grand scheme of things. At least compared with international competitors. So, here goes:
3.141592653532346264338327950288..........
BOOM!!!!!

I just helped throw gilly an AWESOME surprise party. We jumped out and she screamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There were nine girls there. We stayed up until 3:30 talking and I was dared to drink soda!!!!! i know every body thinks, Don't you LOVE soda? For me, though, the answer is no. I hate it. Along with gum. But I love lima beans. Apparently ( to zach), I am not a normal american. I am fine with that, because europeans are awesome and sophisticated. So HA! We played american idol on the wii and had red velvet cake and watched kesha hurt unicorns on vh1. Then sadie curled my hair.

Azur et Asmar
Our school film festival was showing this fascinating belgian film. It was mainly in french, but there was also a lot of arabic spoken (thank goodness for subtitles!). The main attraction, if you will, was the animation, which was full of wonderfully vivid colors. However, the characters spoke and moved like robots. It seemed to be a children's story.
Basically, the film is about this french boy, Azur, who grew up with his nanny and her son, Asmar. She sang to him ancient arabic songs about a prince saving the Dijinn fairy and marrying her. The boy's father sent his nanny away and took all her belongings. When Azur was old enough, he sailed the sea as the tale said, but was shipwrecked. This was an arabian land, where he aimed to go, but his blue eyes scared the people and pretended to be blind. With the aid of another foreigner, Crapoux (tee-hee), he finds his nanny in the city, who has become a rich widow. With Asmar, with whom he recently had a falling out with, they set out on a quest to save the Dijinn fairy.
In my opinion, it was okay, but very childish and robotic. The theme was brotherly love and perseverance.

Saturday is a fun day.
Saturdays are fun days. Don't you think? No work or school, just my brother demanding attention for his sports events and my parents ignoring me in favor of paint. That leaves me a whole day to rest and sleep. This is my off season. I consider them fun because my idea of fun is doing nothing. However, I might just run today.Or read. But that is nothing for me. Therefore: Saturday is a fun day. Or to quote the current student population, Saturday is a fun time.

Space Diapers!!!!!
I went on a school field trip to the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. We went to a small auditorium in the interactive exhibit. They were doing a presentation on the international space station and space living. They chose me to be the "brave volunteer". Little did I know, something terribly embarassing was in store for me. This was a demonstration of space suits and their materials. They put me in a "MAG", or Maxium Absorbency Garment. I was anything but thrilled when I learned that in place of that, I was given an ADULT DIAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone to out their cell phones and snapped pictures of me. Of course, I was not embarassed at all (as if!). My teacher sent a picture to the whole school staff! They then wrapped me in tubing to symbolize air conditioning. Then, A space suit, hat, and gloves completed the mini astronaut look. What a day!!!!!!!
Buzz
I am a frequent poster on buzz, googles social networking site. Recently, it has been having on-and-off problems. I am not able to post, or type comments. It also still keeps building up the number of new posts on the buzz tab, even though I already looked at the buzz. I sometimes can comment on Inboxed posts, but only sometimes. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's about time that I posted about the love of my life. No it's not justin beiber (yuck), or any celebrity. No, it's not a guy at my school, or any thing (currently) living. It's Chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dark, truffled, fair trade, mmmm. Heaven on earth!!!! I pity those who live without it. I truly do. 75% is the best: bitter and flavorful, but still sweet and smooth. "Yum!" doesn't cover the goodness that the cacao brings to my taste buds. Not that I'm a snob or anything..... (which I probablly am). Oh well. Chocolate, how I love you so! At casino night during camp, I was "married" to it. I have a certificate and everything! SO who loves it?

TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't usually post stuff like this, but I need to know: What is a gob?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! People have been talking about this at lunch and on buzz and it's killing me!!!!!!! If anyone out there knows, please tell me!!!!!!!
Delays
Today, my school was wimpy enough to give us a two hour delay for ONE inch of snow. ONE INCH!!!!!!!!! Not that I'm complaining about time off, but really? I should be grateful for this, so I will try to be. Oh well. Life is sweet like that. YAYNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hehehehehe. The great thing about delays and early releases is that we don't have to make them up. Since we had school off yesterday, I'm ready to go back, but some extra time in the morning doesn't hurt.

Rooms, Oh My!
I spent a lot of time endlessly roaming this vast domain called the internet in search of ideas for creating a new bedroom for myself. My exploration ended in vain. My room is purple (!) and I want a sophisticated feel that probably won't come because if the minor disaster it is now. So far, I have taped up home depot paint samples in designs and with quotes on them. Whoop-de-do! Any ideas? I want to include green in it. Am thinking about rearrangement of my furniture. Wish me luck!
Well.....
I should blog, I've been told. Well, not really. But this medium of writing has intrigued me for some time. Everybody can see it, but probably won't. Here I shall explore the mysteries and curiosities of this life. God, I sound like a nerd. Who knows what I will write. Here, I will have opinions. Since this generation is amazingly critical and can't take a joke, it will be difficult to please. But dear readers, however few of you there may be, this is my manifesto for my world.
